Toodoos started when my mum and I started a sewing project. We made the first baby seat for my daughter Stevie, age 1, and while we were out and about we got lots of comments about what a great thing it was. So I started making a few more for friends and family...then friends suggested I start making them to sell and now I have a small production line at home and am having lots of fun making them. I needed a name for the baby seats...Toodoos has interesting origins (well interesting to me anyways). My best friend's husband suggested the maori word for chair which is "turu". I liked it but I wanted my own twist. When I arrived in NZ from Canada over 10 years ago, a good friend, Marama, gave me a couple of hints for pronouncing maori words - replace the "u" with "oo" and replace the "r" with "d". I applied this quirky rule of thumb to "turu" and "Toodoos" was born.
I make each Toodoo with a lot of love and TLC. I love bright and cheery colours and almost every Toodoo is unique in its colours and patterns. I know that your baby or toddler will enjoy their meals while seated in their Toodoo when you are out and about. Stevie and I carry ours everywhere we go - it's perfect for when we are at nana's house or when we hit the local cafes for a coffee and a fluffy with our friends!
Cheers
